Azerai La Residence’s ‘Ancient Capital Pilgrimage Package’ Connects Guests with Hue’s Deep Spiritual Heritage

Azerai La Residence - Hue

Azerai La Residence, the renowned luxury hotel in Vietnam’s historic imperial capital, Hue, has introduced a new way for guests to explore the region’s deep spiritual heritage through an exclusive two-night stay dubbed the “Ancient Capital Pilgrimage Package”.

Timed ahead of the Vesak Buddhist holiday, this immersive package allows visitors a rare opportunity to participate firsthand in traditional rituals and ceremonies at some of central Vietnam’s most revered spiritual sites.

The journey begins at dawn with a serene visit to Kim Dai Pagoda, where guests join local monks for morning chanting, followed by a peaceful tea-time discussion with the head monk. Participants then engage in the centuries-old practice of drawing fortune-reading sticks, providing insights into their personal journeys ahead.

Next, visitors pay homage at Khai Dinh Mausoleum, renowned for its distinctive blend of Vietnamese and European architectural styles. Here, guests partake in the symbolic gesture of lighting incense at the mausoleum’s central altar, offering personal prayers for harmony and good fortune.

The pilgrimage continues along the banks of the Perfume River at Hon Chen Temple, a sacred site honouring both Champa and Vietnamese deities.

The temple is famed for its vibrant royal ceremonies and folk traditions, with the Hue Nam Temple Festival recently recognised by the Vietnamese government as an official “Intangible Cultural Heritage.”

The tour concludes at the historic Nam Giao Esplanade, once exclusively used by Nguyen dynasty emperors for sacred Heaven and Earth ceremonies. Today, the revived ceremonies are presided over by Vietnamese dignitaries. Guests are invited to participate directly, lighting incense and offering their prayers for national peace and well-being.

“We wanted to create a meaningful way for visitors to connect with Hue’s rich spiritual traditions,” said a spokesperson for Azerai La Residence. “Guests aren’t just observers—they become active participants in rituals that have defined this region for centuries.”

The package includes two nights at Azerai La Residence with daily breakfast, a daily drink voucher for the hotel bar, a complimentary room upgrade subject to availability, and a 10% discount for Vietnamese citizens.

Azerai La Residence, noted for its historic art-deco elegance and refined hospitality, was recognised by The Times newspaper in December as one of Vietnam’s top hotels for 2025. The hotel features 122 rooms and suites in a meticulously restored 1930 colonial mansion overlooking the Perfume River.

Founded by legendary hotelier Adrian Zecha, the Azerai brand is renowned for its distinctive resorts located in places of exceptional beauty and cultural significance, including Azerai Ke Ga Bay in southern Vietnam.
