Oakley launches the newest 2021 Kokoro Collection of eyewear, an extension of the 2020 inaugural collection which unified athletes of all abilities, professional and everyday alike, around what would have been the start of the summer games in Tokyo.
“Kokoro,” a Japanese word meaning “heart; mind; spirit,” continues to inspire a sense of belonging and community while embodying the brilliance and beauty of humanity.
The 2021 Kokoro Collection includes four lifestyle sunglasses designed by Tokyo-born, Brooklyn-based artist Meguru Yamaguchi.
With this collection, Meguru pushes the possibilities of art, gesture and form by creating “sculptural paintings” with each sunglass.
The resulting product is completely unique, having been created through a specialized spin technique utilizing a custom-made machine created specifically by Oakley engineers to replicate Meguru’s style of brushstrokes.
The Kokoro Collection launches with Holbrook, Sutro, Frogskins® and Sylas. All pieces from the collection come equipped with Oakley’s leading Prizm™️ Lens Technology, designed to enhance color and contrast so athletes can see more detail.
