We Put The E-Trends Trekker Bike Through It’s Paces

At first glance you would be forgiven for thinking the E-Trends trekker was a normal mountain bike but if you take on taking a closer inspection you would soon realise its a very cleverly designed e-bike. 

The E-Trends Trekker is designed with flexibility in mind; suitable for off-road exploration, with a 250W motor and a  lightweight aluminium alloy frame and tough wheels gives you that ability to tackle those big hills and rough terrain.

The battery and electronics are hidden inside an oversize downtube. On e-bikes at this sort of budget you would expect a large unsightly battery somewhere on the frame so it makes a nice change to see a bike that has had some design thought put into it. 

You can switch between your pedal power and Trekker power, three pedal power-assist modes give you extra injection of speed when you need it most. Trekker can deliver speeds up to 15.5mph and allow you to determine just how quickly you reach that top speed. And after previously testing the City bike that couldn’t drag me up a hill I was blown away by how quick this could get you up to the speeds it put’s claims to.

When you need an extra boost simply use the power of the Trekker and you will reach the summit in no time, that extra boost comes from its 250 watt motor powered by a 36v 7.5ah battery which is good for about 30 miles. 

The beauty of this bike is also that when you feel like you are getting that little bit fitter, stop pedalling, and the motor disengages, giving you full control of your ride. 

The Frame is made from aluminium alloy so they have also put some thought into the weight issue of e-bikes, the whole e-trends bike weighs in at 22kg which for an e-bike is quite light.

With 27.5-inch wheels and double wall aluminium alloy rims which again is an upgrade from the 26″ wheels you will often find on budget e-bikes. 

The gears are a 7 speed Shimano Tourney TZ  with a R:7S Rove shifter and derailleur plus a range of up to 1 miles, which for an e-bike are more than enough. 

E-Trends Trekker isn’t just for fun – it’s just as suited to weekday commutes, and with a full charge in only 4-5 hours, you’ll be at full power before your journey home.

In my opinion the only parts that are not to the same high standard as the rest of the bike are the forks and brakes. The disc brakes on my bike worked OK but instead of cable operated brakes it would’ve been nice to see hydraulic brakes. 

The forks on the other hand didn’t work well on my bike but to be fair the bike had spent its life going from reviewer to reviewer and knowing how we put these things through their paces you never know what rigorous tests the bike has been subjected to. 

And finally what I would say is that being a bit of a bike snob I wasn’t expecting much from the E-Trends Trekker but overall I was highly surprised by how good the bike actually was.whether you want to explore the muddy trails of the countryside or arrive at work in style, the Trekker is perfect both on and off the road.
