dryrobe, announce it will be the headline sponsor of this year’s English Adaptive Surfing Open.
The event will return to The Wave, an inland surfing venue in Bristol and the official high performance training centre for Team England.
The 2021 dryrobe® English Adaptive Surfing Open will take place on Thursday 8th July and will welcome some of the world’s best adaptive surfers to compete, as the event returns to The Wave having hosted a hugely successful 2020 edition there for the first time.
As well as the English Adaptive Surfing Open, which will take place on the Advanced Setting at The Wave, the 2021 event will introduce a new Waikiki Participation Session.
The session will invite adaptive surfers who are above beginner level but may not yet be confident enough to compete to take part in the event and become familiar with the workings of surf competitions.
Last year’s event witnessed some harsh conditions as Storm Alex tore its way across the country, with competitors staying warm and dry between heats thanks to their dryrobe® products.
This year’s headline sponsorship of the event will see dryrobe® products supplied to participants on the day and strengthens the brand’s commitment to supporting the country’s surfers at all levels and its partnerships with Surfing England and The Wave.
dryrobe® ambassador Pegleg Bennett, who plans to compete at the 2021 dryrobe® English Adaptive Surfing Open, commented: “I’m stoked to be back at The Wave for the annual English Adaptive Surfing Open.
It’s an amazing venue and the perfect set-up for an adaptive contest. For me, it’s gonna be a double whammy as I’ve entered two divisions, and as one of the Surfing England coaches, I get to assist some of the competitors.”
“This year we also have a participation session where anyone above beginner level that may want to take their surfing to the next level can come along and give it a go, meet the competitors and coaches and see what it’s all about. It’s going to be a full-on, busy day, but loads of fun and I can’t wait.”
dryrobe® founder Gideon Bright, added: “We’re proud to extend our partnership with Surfing England by becoming the headline sponsor of this year’s English Adaptive Surfing Open.”
“It’s a fantastic event that brings together adaptive surfers from all over the world and we’re excited to support them once again. We’re passionate about making surfing and indeed all watersports accessible to all, and that passion is very much shared by those involved in staging this inspirational competition.”
