6 Celebrities Who Swear By Intermittent Fasting

RosieHuntington Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is the latest celeb to talk about intermittent fasting.

The supermodel told The Sunday Times Style magazine she aims to eat within an eight to 10-hour window, saying: “I’ll have a matcha latte with oat milk at 8 am — that’s the most LA thing about me — and then I try to finish eating between 4 pm and 6 pm. It gives my body a chance to digest everything.

Of course, if I go out for dinner, I shift it to later. I’m flexible, you’ve got to live.”

Huntington-Whiteley is hardly the first famous face to champion intermittent fasting (IF). Arguably the most popular method is the 16:8, which means fasting for 16 hours a day and eating during an eight hour window.

There’s a whole host of purported benefits, from weightloss to improving your sleep. However if you’re considering intermittent fasting, it’s worth doing your research and consulting a healthcare professional first.

Also, there is a bunch of sophisticated apps like DoFasting which could help you to customize your type and track periods of time while fasting.”

Here are some of the other celebs who also fast for periods of the day…

1. Hugh Jackman

Jackman is vocal about intermittent fasting, telling Men’s Journal he follows the 16:8 method as detailed in The 8-Hour Diet by David Zinczenko. He said: “The great thing about this diet is, I sleep so much better.”

2. Antoni Porowski

Queer Eye star and cookbook author, Porowski’s career is based around food, but that doesn’t mean he overindulges. In fact, Porowski says he starts eating solid foods from 12 noon-ish and stops at 8 pm.

When talking about his daily diet with Delish, he said: “I maintain a strict diet so that when late weekend dinners come up, I can do that without any guilt or shame, knowing I am ‘good’ most of the week.”

3. Terry Crews

At 51 years old, former American football player and actor Crews is known for his muscle-bound physique, which he says is greatly helped by intermittent fasting.

In a video for Business Insider he talks about waking up early to train on an empty stomach, then eating between 2pm and 10pm.

In fasting periods, Crews says he sticks to amino acid drinks, coffee, tea, and “sometimes I’ll have a little coconut oil on a spoon that makes you feel a little satiated.” He’s been doing intermittent fasting for years, saying it helps him stay in great shape and feel better than when he was 22.

4. Mindy Kaling

While most celebrities talk about how great they feel on the 16:8 diet, actor Kaling keeps it real.

Sure, there might be benefits to intermittent fasting, but depriving yourself of food for long stretches of time isn’t easy – particularly at the beginning when your body is still getting used to the new routine.

That’s why Kaling is infinitely relatable with her tweet: “16:8 more like 16 hate”.

5. Kourtney Kardashian

Kardashian is known for her dedication to a healthy diet, and she’s also tried her hand at intermittent fasting.

In an article for her lifestyle website Poosh she describes intermittent fasting while simultaneously being on the keto diet.

“For me, this meant not eating for 14 to 16 hours after dinner,” she writes. “I wouldn’t eat past 7 pm at night and then I would wait to eat the next day until after my morning workout, which would be around 10.30 am or 11 am.”

6. Vanessa Hudgens

Hudgens uses intermittent fasting alongside regular exercise and a balanced diet.

She talked to Popsugar about her experiences with 18:6 fasting, admitting it was “rough” particularly at the beginning, but it’s all worth it as “I had way more mental clarity, and I was more energised and felt even stronger in my workouts.”
