By all accounts, rugby boots don’t usually steal the spotlight—but Canterbury’s latest release might just buck the trend.
Enter the Canterbury Heat Pack boots, a bold new range splashed in blistering red and built for the modern-day gladiator.
Launched by Canterbury of New Zealand, the iconic rugby outfitter with 120 years of heritage under its belt, this trio of boots is engineered to meet the punishing demands of today’s faster, stronger, and more versatile players.
And make no mistake: these aren’t just pretty cleats for the gear shelf.
“With 120 years of rugby heritage, Canterbury’s knowledge and expertise are unmatched,” said Simon Rowe, SVP of Canterbury of New Zealand.
“We’ve developed three innovative boots, each tailored to the unique styles of the modern player. Each of these blends player insights and cutting-edge design to deliver exceptional performance on the pitch. We can’t wait to see them in action in the upcoming Lions tour in Australia.”
So, what exactly are players slipping into as they gear up for battle?
Speed – Untouchable
Blink and you might miss it. The Speed Elite—the lightest of the new Canterbury Heat Pack boots—has been shaved down by 24 grams from its predecessor, making it a weapon of choice for pace merchants like Mack Hansen, the newly minted British & Irish Lion winger.
A revamped upper, precision TPU embroidery, and a streamlined toe box all conspire to help players turn half-chances into highlight reels. In other words, this boot doesn’t just keep up—it leaves others in the dust.
Phoenix – Unstoppable
Rugby isn’t all razzle-dazzle. Sometimes it’s about grit, gristle, and the glorious mess of the breakdown. That’s where the Phoenix Elite comes into its own.
Now 50 grams lighter, this tank of a boot has been refitted with Mono-Mesh tech to increase breathability without compromising resilience.
The mono-wrap tongue hugs the foot tighter than a No. 8 on a loose ball, providing the lateral support needed for relentless tackling and driving through contact.
Stampede – Unmovable
Then there’s the Stampede Elite—Canterbury’s nod to the titans up front. A wide-fit, reinforced build ensures rock-solid footing when the scrum engages and bodies clash.
It’s the preferred armour of Ireland’s Andrew Porter, a prop who doesn’t so much play rugby as enforce it. With traction and stability at the core of its design, this is a boot for those who plan on being the last man standing.
Three Boots. One Purpose.
Whether you’re a speed demon gunning down the wing, a ruck-warrior hunting turnovers, or a scrummaging anchor locking the pack, the Canterbury Heat Pack boots have you covered.
Each boot in the lineup is a bespoke piece of kit built around the game’s evolving needs—without losing sight of the tradition that defines it.
The Heat Pack collection is available now from Canterbury’s official store. Boots built not just to play the game, but to dominate it.
