The Big Golf Race 2025 is back, and Prostate Cancer UK is calling on golfers from every corner of the country to hit the links for a life-changing cause.
This summer, as you tee off, you’ll be supporting groundbreaking research like TRANSFORM—the most ambitious prostate cancer screening trial in more than 20 years.
Since its launch in 2020, this campaign has already rallied over 14,400 participants, raising an incredible £4.5 million to revolutionise how prostate cancer is detected and treated.
This year, the charity aims to rally even more golfers to “go the distance” and protect dads, grandads, brothers, partners, and friends from the most diagnosed cancer in England.
Affecting one in eight men, the disease’s prevalence underlines the urgent need for Prostate Cancer UK’s cutting-edge studies, including TRANSFORM.
“Over the years, golfers have played a massive part in enabling us to launch research projects like TRANSFORM, which aims to definitively show the best way to screen men for prostate cancer, and in doing so providing earlier diagnoses, and saving thousands of lives a year,” said Simon Grieveson, Assistant Director of Research at Prostate Cancer UK.
“Every year we’re blown away by the response to The Big Golf Race, and we’re delighted that it’s now the biggest fundraising challenge in golf.
That’s in no small part down to our inspirational army of golfing supporters, who turn out in their thousands every summer to raise life-changing amounts of money for Prostate Cancer UK.”
Golfers who sign up for The Big Golf Race 2025 have three main endurance challenges to choose from: the Marathon (72 holes in a single day), the Half Marathon (36 holes), or the formidable Ultra Marathon (100 holes or more).
This year, there’s a new and improved microsite where participants can form teams, track fundraising progress, and see who’s topping the 2025 leaderboard.
Anyone taking part will receive a fundraising pack, complete with golf essentials and a how-to guide, plus the chance to earn extra gifts as they rack up the holes.
There’s a major incentive, too: golfers who raise £250 get entered into a draw for a dream golfing holiday to Aphrodite Hills Resort in Cyprus, and the top overall fundraiser will win a £3,000 golf package from Titleist.
Unveiled this week at an exclusive event at Pitch in Soho, The Big Golf Race 2025 officially launched in collaboration with Charles Tyrwhitt, the campaign’s sponsor.
The event brought together a vibrant mix of golf media, industry insiders, and celebrity ambassadors, all united in championing Prostate Cancer UK’s groundbreaking work.
Sky Sports’ Johnny Phillips hosted a Q&A panel featuring two notable sports names. Scotland’s most decorated Olympian, Duncan Scott OBE, and former international rugby union star Kenny Logan, who was successfully treated for prostate cancer in 2022, shared their personal reflections:
“It’s inspiring to see how much the golf community has got behind The Big Golf Race, raising an incredible amount of money for Prostate Cancer UK,” Logan said.
“I knew about prostate cancer before my diagnosis, but as a young man, playing professional sport, you think you’re untouchable.
As you get older, you realise these things can happen and knowing that 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer reflects how important it is for men to know their risk.
“The Big Golf Race is fantastic as it gives golfers the opportunity to get together on the course and open up about their health, as well as raising money for a brilliant cause.
I’m delighted to be involved for 2025, and I hope to see as many golfers as possible out there this summer making a difference for men and their families.”
Alongside his support for The Big Golf Race, eight-time Olympic medallist Scott will also be backing fellow Olympian Sir Chris Hoy in the upcoming Tour de 4, which benefits Prostate Cancer UK and four other cancer charities.
“Prostate Cancer UK’s Big Golf Race is an epic challenge that has made a real impact for men affected by prostate cancer, so I’m thrilled to be supporting it this year,” Scott said.
“It’s a brilliant way of combining a fun day out on the course with mates with raising money for vital prostate cancer research, so it’s a real win-win.
“Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, and it doesn’t discriminate – take my compatriot Sir Chris Hoy, for example.
His experience has really shone a light on the disease and the need for a prostate cancer screening programme, so knowing that the money raised through The Big Golf Race could help to deliver that is really exciting.
“I’ve never played more than two rounds in a day, so I’ve got massive respect for everyone taking on 72 – or even 100 holes – this summer, raising money for a great charity.”
Meanwhile, leading menswear brand Charles Tyrwhitt continues its commitment to saving lives by supporting the launch event and spreading awareness of prostate cancer risks among men.
Attendees at Pitch were treated to a showcase of Charles Tyrwhitt’s high-quality golf apparel, which was also handed out to lucky guests on the night.
