SAFEJAWZ, a sports mouthguard company based in Aldridge, has been awarded the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in the category of International Trade.
It is one of 252 organizations nationally to be recognized with this honour, reflecting excellence in business performance. SAFEJAWZ was founded in 2014 by Ewan Jones and George Dyer, who were students at Manchester University at the time.
The King’s Awards for Enterprise, previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, were renamed last year to reflect the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II and the commitment of His Majesty The King to recognizing outstanding UK businesses.
The program, now in its 58th year, is the most prestigious business award in the country, with winners able to use the esteemed King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years.
Since its inception, SAFEJAWZ has made mouthguards for athletes in a range of sports, including rugby, hockey, boxing, and mixed martial arts (MMA).
The company has protected over a million athletes worldwide, from grassroots levels to world champions.
Its mission is to make sports mouthguards more fun and desirable, allowing athletes to express themselves and play with confidence.
Notable athletes such as England rugby star Joe Marler, UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards, and YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI have all worn SAFEJAWZ mouthguards.
George Dyer, co-founder of SAFEJAWZ, expressed his delight at receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise. “We’re delighted that SAFEJAWZ has achieved a King’s Award for Enterprise.
Since co-founding the business with Ewan Jones, we’ve been on an incredible journey from the spare room of our student house in Manchester to our current West Midlands HQ, now distributing to more than 32 countries around the world,” he said.
Dyer also indicated that SAFEJAWZ has big plans for the future. “We’re excited by the potential of the business, and we’ve got big plans to keep growing while continuing to provide innovative, stylish, and comfortable mouthguards to millions of athletes at all levels,” he added.
