After seeing a significant 117% spike in users during lockdown, niix, a home fitness app specifically designed for women approaching 40 and beyond, has announced a £150k crowdfunding initiative to improve their marketing and software developments, and ultimately enable the programme to reach more women.
Launched by renowned fitness expert and trainer Nicki Philips in 2018, niix is an online Pilates and fitness studio that offers a range of on-demand, easily accessible and equipment free classes with a specific focus on pre and post-natal women along with those entering their 40’s and menopause.
The app is available on a monthly subscription and contains hundreds of workout plans, videos and programmes.
In the words of Nicki Phillips, founder of niix, “With a third of women dropping off from physical activity during menopause, niix is there to make sure women don’t miss out on the important benefits of being physically active and healthy.
It seems that if you’re not a twenty something female with a bikini body, then the fitness industry has forgotten about you, but that’s just not true. The thousands of regular users we’ve seen in the first 18 months of niix have been inspiring and we can’t wait to expand and relate to even more women to offer them something nobody else can.”
Actress, presenter and mum Emilia Fox said of the app, “After having my daughter Rose, I tended to excuse myself from exercise, but then I thought being physically and mentally stronger would help me be more equipped for the everyday demands of being a busy mum; that’s how I discovered niix. I do classes several times a week and can fit it in around a busy schedule, wherever I am.”
With 50% of the target amount reached on the opening day, the crowdfunding has highlighted niix as something women are willing to invest in themselves. Stats from Crowdcube show that niix has a 27% higher proportion of female investors compared to the average male/female investment split*.
With multiple benefits being given directly back to female investors, it’s easy to see why. Investing as little as £20 will provide complimentary use of the app for a year, with higher amounts unlocking various other compelling benefits including 1-2-1 classes and personalised fitness programmes.
The investment page is set to close on the 19th June 2020. More information on niix and information on how to invest can be found on their Crowd Cube page here
Free trials of the app are available. Thereafter, the app is £12.99 a month Available for download via the App Store and Google Play. Follow Nicki and her niix journey on social Facebook, Instagram or Linkedin.
