Worldwide Olympic Partner Airbnb is celebrating one year to go to the Olympic Games Paris 2024 by offering fans the chance to enjoy a unique overnight stay in the childhood home of Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Movement.
The 16th-century Château de Mirville, nestled deep in the Pays de Caux valley in Normandy, France, and now extensively renovated, is where the young Coubertin developed a love of sports that would eventually inspire him to revive the ancient Olympic Games.
Now, Airbnb is giving fans the chance to immerse themselves in the Château’s unique Olympic history by experiencing an exclusive one-night stay at the property on 26 July, marking one year to go until the Opening Ceremony of Paris 2024.
Guests will be able to stay in Coubertin’s private study, which pays homage to the building’s Olympic legacy, and view official copies of historic memorabilia such as Coubertin’s 1892 Olympic Manifesto, a document featuring Coubertin’s original sketch of the Olympic rings, and an official ticket from France’s first Games, also in Paris, in 1900.

They will also have the opportunity to play tennis with leading French professional Caroline Garcia on the property’s historic grass court and enjoy a private tour of the estate by Jacques de Navacelle, Coubertin’s great-grandnephew.
Family history has it that it was on the grounds of the Château de Mirville that lawn tennis was played for one of the very first times in France, while Coubertin regularly enjoyed rowing on the estate’s lake.
To complement the experience, guests will also receive items from the International Olympic Committee’s new Coubertin-inspired collection, including T-shirts, keyrings, magnets and badges, as well as a tote bag, notebook and mug.
Guests can find full listing details and request to book this unique overnight stay from 18 July.
Airbnb becomes partner of Olympic Torch Relay
In addition to marking one year to go until Paris 2024, the Château de Mirville stay also celebrates Airbnb’s new role as an Official Partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays, with the property’s unique Olympic heritage set to be recognised when it hosts a stop of the Olympic relay next year.
After being lit in Olympia on 16 April 2024 and arriving in Marseille on 8 May, the Olympic flame will then embark on a 68-day journey across France, visiting some of the most iconic and historic places in the host nation, including Coubertin’s childhood home.
The Olympic flame had previously passed through Mirville ahead of the Olympic Winter Games Albertville 1992.
