What is Athleisure Wear

women in athleisure wear

The term “athleisure” is so popular now, it has been added to the dictionary and is defined as “casual clothing designed to be worn both for exercising and for general use.”

Wikipedia suggests that the trend came about because people could wear them for multiple occasions without having to change, which meant greater convenience since people did not have to carry an extra gym outfit on the way to the office.

Sportswear that was once exclusively worn in gyms is now being worn elsewhere by young adults and fitness-conscious consumers on the high street, coffee shops and even the school run by busy mums.

With fashion trends having a relaxation in dress codes Athleisure Wear now allows wearers to carry out everyday activities easily without so much as a second glance.

Athleisure outfits can include yoga pants, tights, sneakers, leggings and shorts that “look like athletic wear“.

What are the Do’s and Don’ts of wearing Athleisure Wear?
