Gone Wild Festival with Bear Grylls: Thriving Amidst Industry Challenges as Sell-Out Beckons

Gone Wild Festival Crowd

The festival industry has taken quite a hit in recent years, with an astonishing 172 festivals closing their doors since 2019.

Operational costs have shot up by a third, putting immense pressure on event organizers. Yet, amidst these hurdles, Bear Grylls’ Gone Wild Festival has not just survived but thrived.

This year, it’s back with two fantastic locations: Holkham Hall in Norfolk from August 8th-11th and Powderham Castle in Devon from August 22nd-25th.

With only 250 family tickets remaining, this ultimate family adventure is poised for a sell-out.

Bear Grylls, the well-known TV adventurer, and Oliver Mason, a former Royal Marines Officer, co-founded Gone Wild in 2021.

Their unique blend of a family adventure holiday with the excitement of a festival has resonated deeply with attendees, leading to impressive year-on-year growth and expansion from one to two sites.

Despite the downturn in the festival industry, Gone Wild’s success highlights its exceptional ability to meet and exceed audience expectations.

In a year where a recent AIF survey shows that only one in ten people plan to attend a festival, Gone Wild’s near sell-out status is a testament to its appeal.

Offering over 150 adventure activities, engaging entertainment, and a family-friendly atmosphere, Gone Wild stands apart from traditional music-led festivals.

Bear Grylls shared his pride in the festival’s enduring message of family adventure, saying, “I’m so proud the message of family adventure is shining strong for Gone Wild.

We set up the festival to inspire more families to be active outdoors together. Gone Wild is growing because it has a great team and fantastic, loyal customers who keep coming back.

I can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Devon and at our new venue in Norfolk.”

Oliver Mason echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the festival’s resilience, “I’m so proud of how Gone Wild has stood up during this tough industry storm.

It hasn’t always been easy, but we’re totally committed to giving our customers the best experience when they come through the gates.

We’ve expanded to two sites this year. Both events are selling well, and that’s a testament to the vision of this event, our fantastic team, and loyal customers.”

Gone Wild offers a special mix of family activities, from high-adrenaline thrills like abseiling and water activities to inspiring talks from world-renowned adventurers such as Bear Grylls OBE and Sir Ranulph Fiennes.

The days end with live performances from top artists including Sam Ryder, The Feeling, Jake Shears, and McFly, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

With only 250 family weekend tickets left, those interested are encouraged to act quickly to secure their spot. For families seeking a unique getaway with more green time than screen time, Gone Wild is the perfect destination.

It’s an opportunity for children to discover their wild side, embrace the great outdoors, camp under the stars, and enjoy four days of unforgettable family adventure.
