The Under Armour Sportstyle SS19
Spring has sprung and, as the weather fluctuates over the coming months, athletes will be looking for both style and function to keep up with their days and nights. Under Armour's SS19 Sportstyle collection gives them what they need with apparel pieces featuring high-performance, mid-weight layers in comfortable fabrics that help regulate temperature.
The SS19 Sportstyle lookbook was shot in Under Armour's hometown of Baltimore. Just like the city, Under Armour was built through hustle and local support, and is known for its scrappy, bootstrapping attitude. And just like Under Armour, Baltimore is passionate about sports and its history.
The local athletes featured in the lookbook give us a peak into their city. We catch them walking the streets and taking the train, hanging out at a pick-up game, and ending the day enjoying the view from a rooftop.
Baltimore's energy can be seen from street to street. For the athletes, pillars are for stretching, stairs are for racing and handrails are for swinging. Sportstyle gear makes it easy for them to feel comfortable, strong and free to have fun.
Unstoppable Move Light is a new fabrication knitted in a unique way so the center of the fabric has small air pockets, making it very breathable, soft and stretchy, while also providing lightweight warmth. For SS19, Move Light focuses on tonal branding with athletic, technical finishing details for clean, modern aesthetics and functionality.
Lightweight windbreakers are an essential for spring, blocking the wind on blustery spring days. All Sportstyle windbreakers feature UA Storm technology to repel rain. They also come with liners that eliminate clinging, and have secure zipper pockets and adjustable hood constructions to keep you protected from unpredictable weather conditions. Under Armour's design team was inspired by old-school track suits, which led to bold color-blocking on the windbreakers, using advanced surface printing techniques that evoke movement and speed.
A modern take on a classic style, Sportstyle Terry has a heritage cotton look, but is built with performance yarns that wick sweat and keep you warm without overheating. These comfortable, mid-weight pieces can be layered up on cold days, or thrown over a tee as the weather improves. Raw, rugged details on the turnback hood and knotted draw cords are key design features of the vintage-looking fabrication.
