Tv Stars Pete Wicks And Sam Thompson Party At The National Launch Of Chiquito’s New Menu
UK’s biggest Mexican restaurant Chiquito today announced its new menu and invited TV Stars Pete Wicks and Sam Thompson to sample the new dishes.
The reality stars laughed and joked wearing Mexican sombreros as they cooked up a great bromance tasting the new range at London’s O2 Arena restaurant.
The double act did blind cocktail tasting and shared a cream loaded churros from one of the delicious desserts and almost kissed one another.
The new menu, which will be available at all 83 sites from April 2, includes some new innovative takes on mexican classics as well as a number of additional vegetarian and lighter options in a move to make Mexican food more accessible to the nation.
Towie star Pete Wicks, 30, recently seen on Celebs Go Dating, said: “Chiquito is a cool place with a fun party atmosphere, its perfect for a date because you know you’ll have a great one; but having said that I’ve never been on a bad date! I love Mexican food and as a committed vegetarian I was looking forward to tasting the new vegetarian options.
“Its great and its got so much to offer. I particularly liked the Burrito With Benefits because finding good meat alternatives can be tricky but the jackfruit was great and full of flavour.”
He added: “The cocktails and drinks are amazing. Trust me a shot of tequila followed by a shot of pineapple juice will change your life!”
Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson, 26, said: “I love fajitas and I’m an expert at making them. I don't really like spicy food which is great because Chiquito does lots of mild dishes as well as the spicy ones.
“The new menu has so much on offer, the Picanha Steak was amazing, really tasty. Chiquito has great character and is the perfect place for a big party of friends because the new menu has something for everyone...I even got to wear a cool sombrero!”
Items being added include the Soft Shell Open Tacos (with jackfruit, barbacoa beef or chicken tinga) and Mexican Lettuce Wraps as well as a reinvented Guacamole recipe taken straight from the streets of Mexico.
Chiquito has expanded its vegetarian range to include jackfruit (in the Soft Shell Open Tacos and the Burrito with Benefits), Habanero Beetroot (in the Lettuce Cups with Feta and the Chopped and Topped Salad) and Caulibombs (seasoned and deep fried cauliflower with a jalapeno jelly dip)
Also added in a new ‘Green and Grains’ section is the Burrito with Benefits (a beetroot and chia seed wrap stuffed with superfood pulse salad, black turtle beans, pico de gallo and guacamole) and all new selection of Chopped and Topped Salads.
Other more premium items on offer are the Picanha Steak with Chilli Prawns (a Mexican take on a surf and turf), and the Ultimate Beef Rib with homemade Chimichurri.
For those with a sweet tooth there’s also a brand new range of Loaded Churros with toppings such as dulce de leche with banana, vanilla ice cream and cinnamon sugar.
Chiquito Managing Director Angelo Gabrilatsou said: "We are massively excited about the launch of our new menu. Following our team’s food visit to Mexico last year we have adapted our menu to include the best of what we discovered. It adds freshness, authenticity and loads of flavour, allowing our guest to be as adventurous as they want. The last eighteen months we’ve focused on improving the quality of our food and service whilst dialling up the fun that we are famous for and believe this menu is our best yet."
