Those with a keen eye may have noticed that every Saturday throughout this month of May, some of your favourite celebrities have remained very silent.
So what is the meaning of that Pink square they’re putting out there?
Pink; the colour representing universal love for oneself and others. The colour associated with harmony, inner peace is Pretty Little Thing’s chosen Mental Health Awareness colour, so every Saturday throughout May PLT have been holding a wall of silence by posting nothing but that pink square you’ve been seeing the night before to represent the traits behind the colour and to represent the importance of detoxing from excessive social media use.
Social media is a powerful tool, both positive and negative and Pretty Little Thing believe that it’s important to emphasise the importance of stepping away from it every once in a while.
It’s crucial to remember that social media does not always represent reality, therefore you should not compare yourself to others because ultimately there is nobody out there quite like you!
So with this, Pretty Little Thing are asking people to get involved and support the cause to help spread awareness and break down the stigma still surrounding this issue, by standing with them and boycotting your own social media every Saturday throughout May by posting nothing but a pink square.
PLT’s campaign has so far been backed by celebrities including Katie Piper, Olivia Buck, Alex Bowen, Chloe Sims, Georgia Kousoulou and Vicky Pattinson.
Umar Kamani, CEO and Founder says; “In honour of mental health awareness week, we have launched #socialfreesaturdays across all of our social platforms to encourage customers to take a break from the pressures of social media and raise awareness of its negative impact. I would encourage everyone to stand with us and boycott their channels every Saturday in May to raise awareness for this extremely important cause”
Silence really does speak volumes.
