The Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore is set to host the prestigious and lucrative LIV Golf Singapore tournament from April 28-30, 2023.
With a field of 48 players and 12 teams, the competition will feature 54 holes of stroke play and a purse of US$25 million, with US$4 million going to the individual winner and $3 million to the winning team.
This event marks the first appearance of the LIV Golf League in Singapore after a successful sold-out week at LIV Golf Adelaide in Australia.
With a world-class course and a star-studded field, LIV Golf Singapore is set to become the most prestigious golf event ever held in Singapore.
The Sentosa Golf Club is no stranger to professional golf tournaments, with 17 LIV Golf League members having competed in events at the course, including past Singapore Open champions Ian Poulter and Sergio Garcia.
Six-time major champion Phil Mickelson will also be competing in his seventh appearance at Sentosa, while newcomers Cameron Smith and Patrick Reed will be making their first appearances.
Other notable players to watch include Korean-born players Kevin Na, Danny Lee, and Sihwan Kim of Iron Heads GC, who are sure to receive plenty of support from the Asian galleries.
The defending team champions, 4Aces GC, are looking to extend their lead in the team point standings after winning in Adelaide for the first time in 2023 by one stroke over Talor Gooch’s RangeGoats GC. Meanwhile, 4Aces GC member Peter Uihlein leads the individual standings as the only player with top-10 points finishes in the first four events.
The Serapong course at Sentosa Golf Club is currently ranked 55th in Golf Digest’s World’s 100 Greatest Courses and is considered the most challenging course in Singapore.
It underwent a major renovation in 2020 led by general manager and director of agronomy Andrew Johnston, and it has hosted the Singapore Open from 2005 to 2022.
With a par of 71 and a yardage of 7,406, the course is famous for its stretch of holes from No. 3-7, known as the Dragon’s Tail. The signature hole is the 486-yard par-4 fifth, situated in the belly of the Dragon, while the 444-yard par-4 sixth features a large rock formation known as the Dragon’s Tooth and a false front known as the Dragon’s Tongue.
As the golf world’s attention turns to Sentosa Golf Club for the upcoming LIV Golf Singapore tournament, fans and players alike can expect a thrilling competition and a showcase of some of the best golfing talent from around the world.
