itsu Is Giving Away 574 Of Its All New Klean’Katsu; The Same As The Number Of Calories In This Healthy New Favourite

Itsu Klean’katsu

On Monday 19th October between 12-2pm, itsu is celebrating the launch of its brand-new kleankatsu by giving away 574 of the hot dish to customers who quote the password “my new favourite” at the till.

Handed out on a first come, first served basis, the total given away reflects the number of calories in the dish; with 574 being half the calories of its deep-fried cousins.

What’s more, the kleankatsu also has around half the fat content of others on the high street, meaning katsu lovers can now enjoy this dish as an everyday meal rather than an infrequent treat.

With katsu curry having been voted the UK’s favourite takeaway dishitsu wanted to give it its own healthy spin by swapping out the calorific deep-fried chicken for a version that is steamed [never fried] and packed with greens.

The brand worked hard during lockdown to crack the delicious recipe. With recent data showing that Brits’ favourite element of a katsu curry is the sauce, itsu made sure that the kleankatsu sauce is as devilishly delicious and silky as always. Bursting with warm spices and aromatic flavours, it wraps around the succulent chicken to offer an indulgent flavour to the light dish.

Julian Metcalfe, CEO of itsu says: “Right now it’s more important than ever to be eating healthily and watching our weight. Katsu curry is undeniably delicious – it’s one of the nation’s favourite Asian dishes – but it’s typically incredibly calorific.

By sticking to our commitment to steam & never deep-fry we’ve created a healthy version, without sacrificing anything on flavour – meaning customers can tuck into their favourite dish, guilt-free.”

If they miss out on the giveaway on Monday 19th, customers also have the chance to get 50% off their first kleankatsu by getting a voucher here.

The kleankatsu is available from all open itsu stores from £6.49, and is also available on delivery for a healthy Friday night takeaway.
