Television Presenter Hayley Palmer On Keeping Her Focus And Setting Realistic Goals

Looking at Hayley, you may think she’s the life and soul of the party! – but Hayley admits she’s had to really knuckle down in the last year to further her career.

Hayley has been producing and presenting two shows  “The Memory Lane 80’s show” with most recent guests Kim Wilde, Marty Wilde & Cheryl Baker, and “At Home with Hayley” where guests get to pick their favourite songs of all time with most recent guests Courtney Act, Duncan James & Chesney Hawkes.

I chatted with Hayley to find out exactly how she manages her time, keeps a strong mindset, and manages to execute her goals.

Tell us Hayley, how do you plan your week?

I set monthly, weekly and daily goals. I ensure to keep them realistic, and however small they are, if they are moving you towards your goals, then it’s an achievement! I set my small “wins”, and when I reach 6 “small wins” I treat myself to something nice! (Usually chocolate!) That way I know that I’m completely on the right track!

So, would you say that goal setting plays a big part of your life?

Yes I didn’t ever use to set goals, I would just see what happened throughout my week. Now I make sure I know exactly where I’m going via my goals. I believe dreams are possible, but it takes two things – a strong positive mindset, and lots of inspired action.

What’s your morning schedule?

The morning is the most important part of the day to drive you forward for your entire day. I always write down 10 things that I’m grateful for, followed by visualising my goals for 10 minutes.

I then listen to a Motivational You tube Video by Tony Robbins, Lisa Nicholls, or Jay Shetty.

I exercise every morning without fail – Before presenting, I taught dancing for a living, and I still teach half hour outdoor feel good classes – I love seeing people energised (we laugh a lot too!)

Is there a message you would like to send out to people who need inspiration with their goals?

I think that it’s important to find your passion, and that way you’ll enjoy working hard towards your goal. Finding your passion can take time, it’s taken me until my late thirties to find what I really love!

We enjoy watching your TV Shows – what message do you hope it sends to your viewers?

I really try to bring the fun factor, and include the viewer so they feel like they’re in the pub with us having a chat!

Music plays a huge part in peoples lives – people write to me and tell me that I’ve played a certain song, and it’s brought back so many memories for them and I love that!
