Together with Donovan Mitchell adidas are introducing the second version of the all-star’s signature footwear line, D.O.N. Issue #2.
The sequel sneaker’s name remains a testament to Mitchell’s Determination Over Negativity aiming to be a vehicle for positive disruption on the court and in communities.
The launch is accompanied by an episode from the Ready for Sport series which shares an intimate reflection of Mitchell’s life during lockdown and his views on establishing sustainable change.
D.O.N. Issue #2 features two colorful and youthful collaborations with Marvel and Crayola to celebrate Mitchell’s admiration for Marvel superheroes, his creative nature and dedication to youth development.
D.O.N. Issue #2 x Marvel
The first drop delivers an electric green “Spidey-Sense” colorway of D.O.N. Issue #2, fusing Marvel’s Spider-Man and Mitchell’s trust in his instincts to guide his actions towards positive outcomes on and off the courts. Just as the friendly neighborhood superhero protects his community, Mitchell hopes to connect with his fans and give back in a meaningful way.
The “Spidey-Sense” D.O.N. Issue #2 presents a glow-in-the-dark silhouette with Glory Mint, Signal Green and Solar Red hues.
A Spider-Man graphic inside the tongue, “Spidey-Sense!” inscription on the lacing and “BOOM” and “POW” text on the outsole complete the comic book-like feel of the partnership.
D.O.N. Issue #2 x Crayola
adidas Basketball and Crayola team up for the first time to offer a D.O.N. Issue #2 pack representing Mitchell’s desire to inspire others to express themselves on the court, in the classroom and in life.
The partnership hits close to home, with Mitchell’s mother, an elementary school teacher, playing a major role in influencing his appreciation for education and encouraging him to use his imagination and voice.
The Crayola pack features three solid, bright colored sneaker sets in iconic Crayola colors: Sky Blue, Banana Mania and Jazzberry Jam, a nod to Mitchell’s team.
The inscription “Free to Create” on the lacing and “Crayola” written on the outsole prompts athletes to keep expressing their creativity.
D.O.N. Issue #2 Product Benefits
The D.O.N. Issue #2 collection features a BOUNCE midsole that arms Mitchell with enhanced comfort and stability for explosive on-court movements.
The sneaker complements his style of play when it comes to his illusive speed and power, equipped with great traction.
New to the model is a higher heel counter calling attention to the guard’s spider-inspired logo. The upper features an engineered soft and breathable mesh that provides improved lateral support through a webbed lacing system.
In addition to the Marvel“Spidey-Sense” colorway (August 28) and the Crayola pack (October 2), more styles will be released throughout the year, all at a price of $100, at adidas.com and select retailers.
Fans will see nine different colors as part of the “Team” pack (August 28), “Gummy,” an ode to the guard’s love for candy (October 24), a retro purple and gold hued “Pick & Roll” sneaker (November 1), and “Mind Over Matter” a tribute to an important motto for Mitchell (November 6).
